Maison Brings Authentic Soul Food Experiences Back to Paris With Signature Soul Food Atelier™ | Paris 2019

Remember Hayne’s? Remember Randy and Jay’s? Remember Soul on Sunday’s (S.O.S.) with Sharon Morgan and Bennie Luke? Remember Percy’s Place? How about Sharon Morgan’s Bojangles? For many of us, these weren’t JUST RESTAURANTS, they were a little slice of home, places to gather, places that gave us a sense of community. If you’re like us at Maison Noire Américaine, you MISS those days. The food. The laughter. The energy. The music. The surprise guests that would swing through if you were lucky be there at the perfect moment. In short, THE MAGIC.

So we were thinking…what if we could BRING the MAGIC back…at least for a little while? A couple of days at a time type thing? And highlight some amazing American chefs who are changing the way the world looks at southern cuisine? That is EXACTLY what we are aiming to do with our new signature series Soul Food Atelier™ | Paris.

Soul Food Atelier™ | Paris is a series of intimate curated culinary experiences that showcase African American culture, authentic Southern Cuisine, and its contemporary American innovators.  We kick things off this March 15-17, 2019 with Atlanta based, Cordon Bleu Paris Certified Chef and author Jennifer Booker. In addition to being a featured chef at the famed James Beard House and being named by Essence Magazine as on of the “7 Dope Black Female Chefs You Oughta Know!”, Chef Booker has penned not one but TWO cookbooks – “Field Peas To Foie Gras” and “Dinner Déjà Vu” – that highlight her unique skill of artfully weaving traditional Southern dishes with traditional French techniques. But don’t let all the fancy credentials fool you; with roots in Florida, Mississippi and now Georgia, Chef Jenn DEFINITELY knows how to throw down when it comes to traditional soul food, which is why we are SUPER excited to have her share her unique brand of Soul Food with a French twist with our guests in Paris!

The other beautiful thing about Soul Food Atelier™|Paris is that it gives us an opportunity to partner with some AMAZING people, restaurants and organizations. On March 15th, we’ve teamed up with WICE Paris and Treize au Jardin to host a Champagne and Amuses Bouches Networking Mixer featuring a wonderful new champagne brand, Champagne Marie Césaire. The CEO and Founder, Marie Inès Romelle will team up with Chef Jennifer on pairing Southern-themed Amuse Bouche with a selection from the Champagne Marie Césaire line. March 16th, our good friends over at Cook’n With Class have partnered with us to offer a Hands-on Cooking Class as well as a Demo and Tasting (for those who don’t want to get their hands dirty, lol). The events close on March 17th with a Soul Food Sunday Pop Up Dinner, where we’ve partnered with the hip and gorgeous Nola Restaurant, a New Orleans/Cajun-themed eatery along the picturesque Canal Saint Martin.

Because Soul Food Atelier™ | Paris is “community focused”, we would LOVE to work with others in the community on the upcoming March events as well as future Soul Food Atelier™ | Paris events. If you have ideas on where you could fit with the Soul Food Atelier™ |Paris project, hit us up via email maison[@]maisonnoire.org. Like, FOR REAL, FOR REAL.

Bisous!

Robin
