Maison Noire Américaine is excited to announce two amazing upcoming events:

MARIANNES NOIRES FILM SCREENING – JUNE 14, 2017

Join us for a special screening in partnernship with the San Francisco Black Film Festival: “Mariannes Noires”, a documentary written and directed by Dr. Mame-Fatou Niang and Kaytie Nielsen that explores the lives of seven Afro-French women (of African and Caribbean decent) and begins to unravel what it means to be Black, a woman, and French. Universal themes of Black feminism, struggle and empowerment are throughout.

Writer/Director Dr. Mame-Fatou Niang will be present for a Q&A/discussion with the audience, and participation is encouraged!

DINER MAISON NOIRE: DINNER + DISCUSSION WITH DR. NIANG @ BISSAP BAOBAB OAKLAND

Join us for an intimate evening with Dr. Mame-Fatou Niang, director of the film “Mariannes Noires” to discuss the theme of Blackness and womanhood in France.

Our good friends over at BISSAP BAOBAB have assembled a mouth-watering, West African inspired prix fixe menu (appetizer + entree + dessert) for guests.

Vegetarian options will be available.

Dinner will be followed by dancing courtesy of the king of Afro beats, DJ Claude!
